As the 3rd-level country, Indonesia's Soap Operas still cannot get themselves out from the almighty patron of "Cinderella"-esque story. Seriously, it kinda pisses me off that people still watch it because there's NOTHING else to watch.
...those idiots! *is angry*
*NB: "Inem" is a common, stereotypical name for Indonesian maid.

Same here T_T.
S. Korea has a lot of that too... at least during the 90s and early 2000s
Hahaha here in the Philippines, Soap Operas in the early 90's has alot of Slapping... commonly in the face...
And the common plot is an orphan, saw a child at a dump, adopt, maid, later founds out she's the daughter of someone in the story. Slap... Slap... Slap... gonna kill... swearing... and then I lost interest so I never knew what the ending was... XD
Malaysia has ... Malaysia has nothing. All of our soap operas are imported. xD
Yeah, I completely agree with you. This is why I rarely watch our TV soaps. It seems a lot of people are watching Korean soaps nowadays though >_>
Woow. Someone actually see that pattern as well. I say, the only thing you need to have in order to pass an audition for soap operas is the ability to exploit the eyes. (Either bulging, or weeping)
